Out of sheer frustration of having to live in the Wigan area, combined with a love of Burlesque, Hammond organ, Punk, car boot records and showing off — The Stags were born.
This rag-tag group formed with love out of the following cast of crazy-legged, hand and eyed (not to mention their personalities!) characters:
They set to work building a record collection to inspire, steal from and love.
They built cages to dance in, bought suits to attract the animal in everybody, invested in the finest merkin facial hair money could buy but most of all they tried to learn to play their instruments!!
Countless gigs later, they are very nearly there, already a cult act in their own minds.
The brew that is true in the eyes of The Stags would seem to include nods to all these humans:
The Sonics, The Beach Boys, The Cramps, The Avantis, Shocking Blue, Boris Karloff and Jimmy Smith.
And so, with this list never complete and one limited edition 7" single in circulation amongst our families, we give you... The Stags!!
